What to order: Best bread on the mountain
About: While I’ve never stayed at this boutique hotel, the restaurant is a perfect first dinner when arriving in Telluride or Mountain Village since it’s just a step away from the town’s free Gondola. The views from the restaurant get you excited to go ski or spark conversations about the adventures you had earlier in the day if you stop in for a apres-ski snack. Globally inspired surf, turf, and sushi dishes take you around the world and back to one of the most beautiful places you’ll ever visit.

What to order: Wagu Carpaccio or Spicy Tuna bites
About: This was my first time at this newly renovated upscale restaurant. Gorgeous lighting and intimate booth seating sets the mood for the grand meal. The only oyster bar in town didn’t disappoint and our choices of east and west coast paired perfectly with the matcha mocktails. The menu is not static, which will keep you coming back. Tonight, the elk steak, and surf and turf were over the top when paired with interesting sides like shishito pepper and snap peas and crab cakes. The literal cherry on top was the “choose your own adventure” sundae for dessert.

What to order: Fried rice
About: Wok of Joy is a fantastic Thai food truck in Mountain Village (just up the Gondola) that delivers big flavors from a small kitchen. The dishes are fresh, vibrant, and made to order. Standouts include the fried rice and pork gyoza dumplings with a yuzu soy sauce. Be sure to get the chile crisp on the side for extra heat. Even from a truck, the quality of this food rivals full-service restaurants. Generous portions, fast and friendly service, and staff that always greets you with a smile. It’s perfect for a quick, satisfying meal after a day of outdoor adventures or time it with Wednesday music in the square! Prices are fair, and the food is delicious. Wok of Joy is a must-visit if you’re in Telluride and craving a fast and healthy Thai meal.

What to order: Korean Fried Chicken
About: Pescado Wondering if a mountain town can have excellent sushi? This one has some of the best you’ll find anywhere you visit. Tucked on the lower level of a Main Street mainstay, Pescado is warm and inviting. Pick a seat at the sushi bar to talk to the chef-owner, or a table where you can wave to his partner-spouse who is working magic in the kitchen. Yes, they serve up the best of the usual items like hot and salty edamame, seaweed salad, and fresh California rolls; but I suggest venturing out to what makes this restaurant special. Korean fried chicken, daily poké specials, pani puri, special rolls (Green Dragon or Los Cerritos), and house made kimchi are on my list every visit.
And if you’re in town on a Wednesday, equally special is the Indian food night.

What to order: New York Strip
About: The Chop House in Telluride is a great place to eat if you like steak and seafood. The food is fresh, tasty, and cooked just right. The restaurant has a cozy, mountain-style feel, which makes it perfect after a day outside. The staff is friendly and helpful, making sure you have everything you need. The strip is very tender and full of flavor. The sides, like mashed potatoes and vegetables, were also very good. It’s a little pricey, but worth it for a special night out. I would definitely go back again.
